ADDING LED/NEONS ILLUMINATION ON YOUR DASH/INSID

WHATS NEEDED?

  • electrical tape
  • solder (for good connections)
  • solder gun
  • wire strippers
  • phillips head screwdriver
  • socket/socket drive (to open stuff up)
  • drill with bits (5mm or 8mm for LEDs)

1. Remove glove box or trim peice you want to mount leds inside.

2. Find source of power to supply the leds/neons. Cut into the power source and rap your LED wires around this positive/negative you found (remember ground or body of car is also always negative) Examples include LIGHT for glove box, back of stereo, door light etc... (remember, some lights only come on when the car is on, and some only when the door is open, keep this in mind when choosing your power source).

3. Wire your leds in Parallel to your power source. Make sure your polarity is correct. It should not damage the LED if you put it on backwards. Use black tape Do not pit the leds in series, this will cause them ot be very dim or not work at all.

4. Drill holes 5mm or 8mm depending on what leds you purchased. Once drilled insert the led HEAD to see if it fits. If it fits, then all you need to do is place a few drops of super glue, crazy glue or any kind of glue to secure it to that hole. Hot glue gun works great too.

5. You should have a final product similar to below. This is an example of an LED mounted on a dash.

Car Alarm
You can get power from behind your fuse box. But be careful not to mess anything up!
